The product that got us into the wheat and gluten free, non GMO market place was our Hol Grain Brown Rice Crackers. We bought the cracker company from a company in Chicago, IL and moved all the machinery down to our South Louisiana Rice Mill. Took 9 trailer loads to get it all moved.
Over the 20 odd years that we have been making Hol Grain Brown Rice Crackers we have improved on their crispness, innovated new packaging and added some additional flavors.
Truth be told, the original Light Salt and No Salt varieties are still the best sellers by far.
Our crackers are not for everyone. Folks who like highly salted, cheesy types of crackers will find our Hol Grain Crackers a little bland.
The only ingredient in our crackers are brown rice. The Light Salt has a little salt added, that’s it.
We think our crackers are great. They carry flavors of spreads or cheeses or pepper jelly sauces beautifully. They do not overpower whatever condiment you may add to them. We have had several wine Sommeliers tell us they use our Hol Grain Crackers to clean their pallets as they taste various different wines.
I don’t know about the wine thing as fancy wines are kind of lost on me, but I do know what tastes good, is healthy and pure and that is our Hol Grain Brown Rice Crackers.
We have these Crackers in several Whole Foods divisions, Publix stores and a bunch of really great Independent Natural Store Retailers.
We have a 10% off special on them through our secure web site www.holgrain.com for the month of September, 2016, so please give them a try.

p.s. We have received a lot of calls and emails enquiring about the terrible flooding we have recently experienced in South Louisiana. New Iberia, where we are located, is right in the middle of some of the heaviest flooding, as we got 22” of rain in 36 hours. The Mill managed to remain high and dry. We lost a few days of work, as our employees could not get to work because many highways were flooded and some still remain so two weeks after the rains stopped. But we are back up and running and receiving visitors to our Old Rice Mill. All the local tourist attractions are also open for business. There are thousands of homes that were severely flooded. Your thoughts and prayers for our residents are greatly appreciated. md

FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Wow, does the time fly when you’re having fun!  When I bought Conrad Rice Mill in 1975, I was the youngest rice miller in the USA.  Now, after 40 years of running this old Mill, I’m the oldest rice miller in the USA.  Frankly, I think that’s a good thing – you do learn a little along the way!  In my case one of the things we think we’ve figured out is where the food trends are going and how they can apply to our operation.  Simple, really.  All along we just kept making the best products we could, using simple, pure ingredients.  Recently, I read in the Wall Street Journal that the major food companies are reformulating their products to meet today’s consumers’ desire for simple, pure products.  Well, that must make us pretty darn smart as that’s how we’ve always made our products.  The bench mark among our employees is: “If we can’t pronounce an ingredient or if it sounds too scientific, we don’t use it, ever”.  Case in point, our QUIGGS brand Yellow Rice is the only yellow rice in North America that is made with pure, simple ingredients.  No MSG, no HVP, no red or yellow dyes, etc.   It is just not necessary to use all those chemically sounding ingredients.  They sound so scary that I figure they can’t be good for you – so why use them?  Keep it Simple, that’s our motto.  We keep tweaking our product line, trying to make what we make better and made more efficiently.  For those of you living on the West Coast, we’ve picked up two new distributors, one in the Bay Area and the other in Sacramento, California.  We’re also making headway in the Pacific North West.  Our beautiful home town of New Iberia, Louisiana continues to remain a great place to work and live.  Please come see us and visit America’s Oldest Rice Mill.  We’re open to the public Monday thru Saturday, year round.  Lots of good stuff for you to eat and some great Louisiana coffee to wash it down with.  Thank you for your continued support of our brands and our operation.  We do appreciate it!
